All other data flows will resume between 1530-1545 UTC as originally indicated. Topic: GOES-16 Drift and Transition Plan Date/Time Issued: December 13, 2017 1830 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: All GOES-16 ABI, GLM, SUVI, SEISS, MAG, and EXIS products Date/Time of Initial Impact: November 30, 2017 1300 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: December 20, 2017 TBD UTC Length of Outage: See details below. Details/Specifics of Change: The GOES-16 drift and transition plan remains largely unchanged from the December 6, 2017 notification. This notification serves to provide additional specific information and minor updates. Another notification update will be sent this week. All plans and dates are subject to change. GOES-16 completed drift on December 11, 2017 and is positioned in its final operational location of 75.2 degrees West. On December 14, 2017 between 1530-1545 UTC, GOES-13 direct GVAR will be disabled. GOES-13 GVAR and LRIT will be relayed through GOES-14 GVAR until January 3, 2018 at which time the GOES-13 GVAR relay through GOES-14 GVAR will be disabled and the satellite will begin drifting on January 4th to its storage location at 60 degrees West. On December 14, 2017 between 1530-1545 UTC, data flow resumes to users of the SBN, PDA, GNC-A, and CLASS in the same manner in which they were distributed prior to satellite drift. GRB, DCS, HRIT-EMWIN, and SARSAT will be enabled as soon as GOES-13 direct GVAR is disabled in this time period. Additional testing will occur after data flow resumes and GOES-13 will remain the operational GOES-East satellite until GOES-16 is declared the operational GOES-East satellite no later than December 20, 2017. A notification will be sent in advance of the official GOES-16 operational declaration and prior to disabling GOES-13 on January 3, 2018.
