MSPPS Processing Monitoring (Polartest)

The operational Microwave Surface and Precipitation Products System (MSPPS) provides PPS AMSU-B/MHS instruments on board of NOAA's KLMN' series polar orbiting satellites and METOP satellite. The current operational MSPPS products include: rain rate, total precipitable water, cloud liquid water, snow cover, snow water equivalent, sea ice concentration, ice water path, land surface emissivity (23.8 GHz, 31.4 GHz, and 50.3 GHz), and land surface temperature. The operational MSPPS data are available in HDF-EOS format, and some of products are also available in BURF format. The MSPPS retrospective data can be acquired from the National Climatic Data Center and the Comprehensive Large Array-data Stewardship System.

Provided here is a web tool for monitoring the product quality, accuracy and timeliness. The program checks to see if the application is being run efficiently, and products are generated and distributed to users in a timely manner. A status report is generated for each processing modules in the MSPPS application in a real-time mode, so any potential problem can be promptly identified and corrected in time. Monitoring the product generation latency is another primary objective here for providing quality service to the real-time users.
