DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z August 26, 2005

Central/Southern Alberta/Montana:
An area of thin smoke stretching from western Alberta south along 111W
into north central Montana is wrapping around the west side of a well
defined cyclone moving from Saskatchewan into western Manitoba.  The smoke
has gotten harder to see in GOES 12 and 10 imagery since this afternoon.

Idaho/Western Montana.
Numerous fires in the Clear Water Mountains of central Idaho is producing
an area of moderately dense smoke. The smoke is moving from central
eastern Idaho into western Montana to near interstate 90 and just south
of Missoula.

Nevada:
The Barrel fire burning in northwest Nevada is causing a thin area of
smoke moving east northeastward across extreme southeast Oregon to near
the Steen Mountains.

Oregon:
A dense area of smoke from a fire near Cave Junction is moving northward
across the Klamath Mountains. Another fire near Power just south of
Myrtle Point is producing an area of thick smoke moving north to just
north of Eugene.

Northern California
The Harding fire near Portola in the Plumas National Forest is producing
a thick area of smoke moving northward.  The width of the smoke stretches
from about Eagle Lake into western Nevada in the Smoke Creek Desert.
A thin area of smoke from a fire near Willow is moving north to near
Red Bluff.
