DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2315Z October 22, 2005

California:
Dense smoke from a fire along SR-88 SE of Omo Ranch in El Dorado county
fans out from N to NE 39km.
Thin smoke from a fire near Beardsley Lake in NW Tuolumne county extends
NE 23km to the Alpine county line and is 4km wide.
Moderately dense smoke from a fire near Comptonville in NE Yuba county
extends NE 29km and is 10km wide.
Thin to moderately dense smoke from a fire SW of Quincy in Plumas county
extends NE 23km and is 20km wide.
Dense smoke from a fire near Kettle Rock NW of Taylorsville in Plumas
county fans out from N to E about 42km to near Susanville.
Moderately dense to dense smoke from two fires just North of Lassen
Volcanic Nat'l Park, one in E Shasta county the other in W Lassen county
combine over the county line and extend N 60km to the Modoc/Siskiyou
county line and are about 24km wide together.
Moderately dense smoke from a fire near Lewiston in Trinity county fans
out NE to SE and is about 30km long.

Oregon:
Dense smoke from a fire near Idleyld Park in Douglas extends in two
directions. Smoke moving north extends 49km and is 13km wide, while
smoke moving east extends 20km and is 13km wide.
Dense smoke from a fire between Diamond Lake and Chemult in Klamath
county extends NE 54km and is 25km wide.
Moderate to dense smoke from a fire near Fuego Mtn. in E Klamath county
extends NE 30km and is 14km wide.
Moderately dense smoke from a fire near US-26 at the Wheeler/Crook county
line (in Crook county) extends NE 12km and is 10km wide.
Two fires south of US-26 in S Wheeler county in Ochoco Nat'l Forest are
producing moderately dense smoke that extends NE 36km and both are about
15km wide nearly combining into one larger plume.
Dense smoke from a fire along US-395 near Seneca in S Grant county
extends NE 27km and is 13km wide.
Thin smoke from a fire in the Ochoco Nat'l Forest in far N Harney
county NNW of Riley, extends N 53km and covers the Beaver River Valley
E of Paulina.
Dense smoke from a fire near the Blue Mtn. Pass NW of Unity in Baker
county fans W to N with smoke moving NW up the slopes of the valley
about 30km.
Dense smoke from a fire near Red Hill in Wallowa county extends NE 34km
into Washington and Idaho and is 10km wide.

Mississippi:
Thin to moderately dense smoke from a fire near Baxterville in Lamar
county extends SSW 49km and is 11km wide.
Moderately dense smoke from a fire near Duncan in NE Bolivar county
extends SSE 34km and is 7km wide.

Louisiana:
Thin smoke from a fire near Merryville in Beauregard parish has detached
from its source and extends S 133km into the Gulf of Mexico and is
21km wide.
Thin to moderately dense smoke from a fire near Poufette in Iberia parish
extends S into the Gulf 186km and is 19km wide.

Arkansas:
Multiple fire are producing thin to moderately dense smoke across NE AR.
The smoke is moving SE and covers the following counties: E Jackson,
Poinsett, Cross, Crittenden and Mississippi.

Oklahoma:
Moderately dense smoke from a fire near Lawton in Comanche county extends
NE 89km and is 13km wide.
