DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

California: Dense smoke from a fire along SR-88 SE of Omo Ranch in El Dorado county fans out from N to NE. The upper level plume is more dense and extends N 51km, while the lower level plume extends NE 33km. Thin smoke from a fire near Beardsley Lake in NW Tuolumne county extends NE 27km to the Alpine county line and is 11km wide. Dense smoke from a fire near Comptonville in NE Yuba county extends NE 39km and is 10km wide. Thin to moderately dense smoke from a fire near Kettle Rock NW of Taylorsville in Plumas county fans out from N to E. The most dense portion of the plume extends NE 149km though the extent in the N direction is 52km and E is 45km. Convectively dense smoke from a fire just North of Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Park in E Shasta county extends NNE 69km and is 20km wide. Dense smoke from a fire SE of Drakesbad in NW Plumas county extends NNE 16km and is 15km wide. Oregon: Dense smoke from a fire near Red Hill in Wallowa county extends NE 51km and is 12km wide. Elsewhere across Oregon, multiple fires are burning across the Ochoco and Malheur Nat'l forests in Central OR as well as Fremont and Winema Nat'l forests in Klamath county. Occasional breaks in the dense cirrus show smoke plumes, but end points and widths of plumes a difficult to determine from GOES imagery. Alabama: Thin smoke from a fire near Chico in Talladega county extends SE 53km and is 9km wide. Louisiana: Thin smoke from two very close burning fires near Brousville in Iberia parish extends S 138km into the Gulf and is 19km wide. Thin smoke from a fire near Slacks and Rosedale in Iberville parish extends S 59km and is 8km. Thin to moderate smoke from a fire near State Line in Washington Parish extends SSE 67km and is 11km wide. Thin smoke from a fire near Olga along the Mississippi River in Plaquemines parish extends S about 52km then bends SW an additional 42km and is about 7km wide. Texas: Dense smoke from a fire near SW of Sabine Pass in Jefferson county most likely in the McFaddin N.W.R. extends S 110km and then bends SW an additional 140km. The plume is thickest near the source and averages 18km wide. Moderately dense to dense smoke from a fire near Port O'Conner in Calhoun county extends SW 113km and is 20km wide. GG
