DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0030Z November 24, 2005

Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana:
A fire in south Jefferson county in Texas is emitting a moderately
dense smoke plume moving east across state lines into Cameron county in
southwest Louisiana.  Another fire in south Jasper county in Texas is
producing a dense smoke plume that moves across several counties including
Newton in Texas and Allen, Beauregard, Vernon and Rapidas in Louisiana.

Their are smaller fires emitting thin smoke plumes in Panola and Jackson
counties in Texas, Morehouse, Vernon, Iberia, and St James counties in
Louisiana and Lincoln and McIntosh counties in Oklahoma.

Oregon:
A fire in southwest Lake county and another fire in southeast Klamath
county are emitting thin smoke plumes moving north to northeast in
direction.  These are relatively small fires with the associated plumes
staying inside the above county borders.

Florida:
There are numerous fire in the counties surrounding Lake Okeechobee.
A large majority of these fires are burning in Palm Beach county.
Some of these fires are producing thin smoke plumes moving southeast
across the region.

A fire in north Santa Rosa county is emitting a thin smoke plume moving
northeast into Escambia and Okaloosa counties in south central Alabama.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
