DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z January 25, 2006

California:
Multiple fires burning in central Finney county are emitting areas of thin
smoke moving northwest across the Salton Sea and western parts of Finney.
A fire in Redwood National Park in Humboldt county is producing a dense
plume of smoke that is moving north across Del Norte county.

South Dakota:
A thin plume of smoke around 120-130 km long is burning in west Pennington
County just north of Rapid City.  Smoke is moving south southeast across
Shannon and Custer counties.

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
