DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0300Z February 6, 2006

Hawaii:
A fire located near Crater Village in western Maui was emitting
a moderately dense smoke plume which had spread westward across the
northern portion of Lana'i.

Florida:
A fire over western Okaloosa County in the western Florida panhandle
which has flared up for the past couple of days was again producing
locally dense smoke which had moved southeastward paralleling the coast
and then across portions of Gulf and Franklin Counties.

Southern Texas/Mexico:
A narrow band of smoke from a fire just over the border of far southern
TX-Mexico had moved northward across the border just west of Brownsville,
TX during the late afternoon.

SW Kansas/W Oklahoma/NW Texas:
Gusty northwesterly winds fanned a fire burning in Morton County of
far southern Kansas producing a rapidly moving smoke plume which spread
southeastward across the western Oklahoma panhandle into the northwestern
Texas panhandle.
