The large fire in the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge in SW Alaska
continues to produce a plume of dense smoke that drifted southward to NW
Bethel County. Numerous fires from NE Alberta across northern Saskatchewan
to NW Manitoba produced plumes of moderately dense smoke that drifted
mostly toward the NE. Isolated fires in southern Quebec and SE Labrador
produced plumes of moderately dense smoke that drifted to the east and
northeast. Thin smoke that originated from fires in Russia extended from
Bristol Bay to the Gulf of Alaska.

Southeastern States/ Gulf of Mexico:
Fires from southern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle drifted southward
to the Gulf of Mexico. Dense smoke drifted westward over S Florida from
fires in W Collier and central Broward County.

An area of thin smoke/haze extended from NE Texas across the Gulf of
Mexico to central Florida.

Utah/ Baja California:
Fires in central Garfield and central San Juan County in SE Utah produced
dense smoke that drifted westward to SW Colorado. Fires in northern Baja
California produced moderately dense smoke.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
