THROUGH 0132Z July 1, 2006.

Southwest U.S. :
In western Arizona dense smoke fanned out from a large fire in
southern Yavapai County. A fire in NW San Diego County in S California
produced thin smoke that stretched across W Riverside County to SW San
Bernardino. In northern California thin smoke from Stanislaus County
spread to Joaquin County. Thin smoke also extended northward from a fire
in W Temama County to W Shasta and NE Trinity.

Canada and Eastern U.S. :
Numerous fires in the Canadian Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and
Manitoba produced an extensive plume of dense to moderately dense smoke
that extended southeastward across Ontario through the Great Lakes to
the Ohio Valley and the Middle Atlantic states. Thin smoke extended from
NE Texas across the N Gulf of Mexico to Florida.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
