THROUGH 1600Z August 7, 2006.

Washington/southwestern Canada/south of central Canada:
The Tripod Complex fire north and NE of Twisp, WA along the Okanogan
Range continues to output a large area of thick smoke moving east NE
into British Columbia. When the smoke reaches MT. Revelstoke areas in

The fire in Mendocino county in Norther California is still burning
and producing moderately dense smoke, that is moving northwest across
northern Mendocino county toward the Pacific Ocean.

A fire south of Great Bear Lake is still producing moderately dense plume
of smoke moving north his morning. A dense area of smoke is swriling
around the whole of Great Bear Lake. A large area of mixture of smoke
and haze just north of eastern Great Slave Lake can be seen.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
