DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z November 30, 2006

California/Arizona/Baja California/Mexico
Blowing dust is moving from southeast California, southwest Arizona and
northeast Baja California across parts of northwestern Mexico, the Gulf
of California and most of Baja California.  Winds throughout the region
range from 15-25 mph with higher gust.

US/Hawaii:
No significant areas of smoke can be observed in satellite imagery.

  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
