DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0245Z January 10, 2007

Louisiana:
A small fire in Cameron county of southern Louisiana is producing a light
plume of smoke that extends directly south out over the Gulf of Mexico.

Texas:
In Jefferson county a fire is producing a moderately dense plume of
smoke that is moving south out over the gulf.

Mexico:
In Sonomora there are several fires that are producing light to moderately
dense smoke that is moving to the southeast.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
