DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1815Z February 10, 2007

North Carolina and Florida:
A narrow plume of moderate smoke from a fire in Onslow county North
Carolina extends to the southeast into the Atlantic. A short smoke plume
over Okaloosa county Florida extends south, reaching the Gulf Coast. A
fire in Wakulla county has a moderate plume extending to the southeast
into the Gulf. A blaze near Cape Canaveral has produced a moderate smoke
plume that extends about 50 km to the east into the Atlantic.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
