DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z March 28, 2007

Southeast US:
There are several small fires throughout eastern Alabama, Georgia and
South Carolina that are producing light plumes of smoke that are moving
to the north northeast. There were a significant amount of fires in the
southeast today, but the cloud cover limits visible imagery and therefor
some of the smoke may not be accounted for.

Texas:
In southern Texas there are a few fires producing light smoke. The most
significant is found on the border of Cameron and Willacy counties and
is moving to the north.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
