DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z April 4, 2007

Florida:
On the border of Palm Beach and Broward county there is a rather large
fire producing a significant amount of light to moderately dense smoke
that is extending to the west throughout Hendry county.

Oklahoma:
Earlier in the day a large fire in Choctaw county was producing very
dense smoke that was moving to the northeast, it has diminshed since then.

Kansas:
In southeast Kansas there is a large cluster of agricultural fires
producing light to dense smoke that is moving south. The thickest smoke
is being produced by fires located throughout Neosho and Labette counties.

In southwest Kansas there are a few fires that are producing light puffs
of smoke that is moving south southwest.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
