DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z April 10, 2007


Upper Mississippi Valley:
Fires in eastern Polk County in Central Iowa and northern Palo Alto County
in Northern Iowa produced plumes of thin smoke. Fires in Winona County
in SE Minnesota and Kittson County in NW Minnesota also caused thin smoke.

Arkansas/Tennessee/Missouri/Oklahoma:
Plumes of light and moderate smoke moved northward from the numerous
fires in N Arkansas, NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri. Thin smoke drifted to
the east from a fire in southern Greene County and a fire in southern
Van Buren County in eastern Tennessee.

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
