Residual smoke from yesterday's fires in Canada can be seen moving
southeast from Manitoba and Ontario, through the Dakota's and into
Minnesota and Iowa.

slowly drifting north and east. Moderately dense smoke is covering
the eastern half of Washington and northern Idaho and is moving east
into Montana.

A small area of locally dense smoke is moving to the east from a fire
in western Owyhee County.

California:
In the first visible images, residual smoke can be seen moving to the
north across the entire state from the Zaca wildfire.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
