SE Ontario/S Quebec/E Great Lakes/E Midwest Thin smoke from this weekends and Monday's burning across Idaho has drifted across southern Canada and is currently seen coving all the SE portions of Ontario from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec boarder near 48N into Quebec to the warm front to the north (around 51N) and SEward to the St. Lawerance River. The smoke also extends into the US covering, all of the LP of MI, Lake Michigan, the eastern portion of WI (Merinette, WI to Oshkosh, to Chicagoland), N IN (Chicagoland to Richmond, IN), OH (Northern half), the stovepipe of WV, western PA (west of highest ridges), W NY and N NY. This smoke is sliding SE slowly (except near the warm front where it is moving E along it). Mid-Atlantic: Thin to moderate smoke from eariler burning in Idaho covers SE PA, Central MD, S NJ to the southern tip of the Delmarva, also extending eastward from NJ to 70W (between 38N and 40N). This smoke may be connected to the smoke in western PA, N WV by a very thin area across the PA/MD line but is very difficult to discern even at lowest sun angles. Tennessee/Kentucky/North Carolina: Very thin smoke from prior week's burning in Idaho is separated by some clear air from aforementioned smoke above. This smoke covers ext NE AR, the bootheel of MO, Western TN (west of Nashville), and all of KY (except Cincinnati southern suburbs). This area appears stagnant or very slowly drifting SW toward the center of the High Pressure zone. A thin area of smoke connects to a larger area of smoke (most likely from the same burning on the same day) across the Cumberland Gap area of SE VA, ext. S WV into all of NC to the coast (not the Outer Banks). This smoke is moving quicker due south under stronger northerly flow and should be over N SC soon. Colorado: A pocket of moderately dense smoke from fires in Idaho was separated by a frontal zone that developed across the Dakotas over the last few days. This smoke is covering all of E CO (east of the Rokies) with a very thin area over the central CO Rockies and Swatch Range. The most dense is south of I-70 moving rapidly due south just entering NE NM. Idaho: Numerous fires in the Boise Nat'l Forest are smoldering with extremely dense smoke filling the valleys including some moderately dense smoke leaking across Boise into the western portions of the Snake River Plain. Some smoke above the mtn range tops is drifting NE into MT where it melds with a much larger area described below. Montana/North Dakota: Very dense smoke from last night's fires across ID and western MT have been picked up by the jet streak behind the front that is crossing from NW MN across SD this morning. The smoke area covers all of MT and ND with very little covering exteme northern portions of SD and extreme NW MN to the Lake of the Woods moving very fast toward the east. A very small portion of low level moderately dense smoke from NW MT fires is starting to moving due west into N ID. SE British Columbia: Fires along the Upper and Lower Arrow Lake, Kootenay Lake, and the higher elevations of SE BC (near Mt. Findlay) are producing moderately dense smoke that has been sinking into the lower elevation valleys and lakes. NE BC/NW Alberta/SW NW Territories: Very thin smoke from fires in the Northern portions of the Yukon Territories and NW NW Territories can be seen across SW NW Territories, extreme NE BC and NW Alberta as far SE as Lesser Slave Lake and Grande Prairie. This area is moving SE and thinning out. Gallina
