DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0015Z OCTOBER 18, 2007

Arizona:
A fire in southern Coconino county near the border with Gila county is
producing a light to moderately dense plume of smoke extending east and
reaching into central Apache county. Another fire in southern Coconino
county near the Yavapai border had a light plume of smoke extending only
about 50 km to the northeast.

Utah:
A pair of fires in southwest Garfield county near Bryce Canyon had narrow
plumes of thin smoke that extended to the east less than 35 km.

New Mexico/Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas:
A fire in northeast Roosevelt county in New Mexico has a light to
moderately dense smoke plume that extended east into Hale county Texas. A
fire in northern Gray county in southwest Kansas has a brief puff of
smoke that quickly moved to the northeast.

An area of blowing dust from strong winds was seen over along the Red
River Valley straddling from southwest to northeast from Texas into
southwest Oklahoma near Wichita Falls Texas.

Quebec:
An area of light to moderately dense smoke was seen over western Quebec
east of the southeast tip of James Bay. The smoke was slowly drifting
to the north-northwest.
