THROUGH 1515Z March 13, 2008

Southeast US:
Dilute smoke or haze is visible just off the coast of the Carolinas and
Georgia, this being perhaps residue from a number of fires yesterday
afternoon. Very minor smoke is associated with a couple of morning
fires in southern Florida.

Texas:
A small plume of smoke originated from a fire in Parker County, in the
panhandle of Texas.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
