Florida: A large fire continues to burn on the west shore of lake
Okeechobee in southeast Glades county producing light to moderately dense
smoke which extends to the east-southeast across the southern portion of
the lake, extreme northeast Hendry county and western Palm Beach county.
A fire in Brevard county, just to the north of Cape Canaveral is producing
light to moderately dense smoke which is traveling east off the coast
about 45 km.

Northern Great Lakes: A remnant area of light smoke, likely from the
numerous agricultural fires in the northern Plains and southern prairie
provinces of Canada, is seen across the northern Great Lakes extending
from western Lake Superior across the upper peninsula of Michigan,
the northern portion of lower Michigan and Lake Huron.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
