DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1540Z JUNE 7, 2008

Large fire in North Carolina continuing to produce dense smoke blowing
eastsoutheast over the Atlantic.  Smoke extends approximately 740 km into
the Atlantic and as far south as 27 N latitude and as far north as 39N.
Area of the smoke plume caught in a high pressure system about 500-575
km offshore of Florida is pushing westward with the leading edge of
light smoke making it to the eastern Florida shore between 1100Z and
1300Z this morning.

Thin plume of smoke extending northward into southern Georgia from a
fire in northern Lafayette county in the Florida panhande.

Area of possible smoke/dust over southwest Kansas into southeast Nebraska
along a dry line in early morning visible imagery.

Area of smoke over northeastern North Dakota, northern Minnesota,
southern Winnipeg and southwestern Ontario provinces in Canada.
Likely from large fires in northern Saskatchewan province Canada.
