DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Impact of Western Fires: Moderately dense to dense smoke covers portions of northwest California, southern Oregon, southern Idaho, Montana and Wyoming as a result of the numerous fires in northern California, the Cascade fire in Carbon County Montana and the Gunbarrel fire near Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Impact of Canadian Fires: Moderately dense to dense smoke extended from fires in northern Saskatchewan southeast into the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and northern Mid Atlantic states out into the Atlantic Ocean south of New England. Another band of moderately dense to dense smoke stretched northwest from these fires across the Northern Territories to the border with Yukon Territory. Still more smoke reached eastward across northern Hudson Bay.
