DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Extent of California fires: Moderately dense to dense smoke extends from the fires in northern California through southern Oregon, central Idaho, northern Wyoming and southern Montana. Light smoke from the northern California fires can be seen through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. The fire located in central Mariposa County is emanating moderately dense to dense smoke which is moving mainly to the south reaching Kern County. Arizona: There is an area of haze in southern Arizona which may be blowing dust coming from Mexico. Wyoming: A fire in Park County Wyoming is generating dense smoke which is fanning out to the east. The plume is 100km wide at its furthest extent which is over 250km from the fire. Oregon: There are several fires located in western Linn County which are producing moderately dense to dense smoke which is traveling north extending over 200km to reach Skamania County Washington. Montana: In eastern Carbon County a fire continues to emit moderately dense to dense smoke which is moving to the east extending over 350km approaching the South Dakota border. Impact of Canadian Fires: Moderately dense to dense smoke from the fires in northern Saskatchewan, north of Lake Athabasca, and the fires in the Northwest Territories can be seen stretching from the Beaufort Sea, through northern portions of the Yukon, the southern Northwest Territories into northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and then into the Hudson Bay. -Salemi
