THROUGH 0145Z SEPTEMBER 12, 2008
Northern California/Southern Oregon: Heavy dense smoke emanated from fires in Oregon counties of Harney, Umatilla, and Walla Walla as well as from the Blue 2/Siskiyou, Panther, and Bear Wallow complexes in northern California. Light to moderate smoke from these fires covered the southern two-thirds of Oregon, northern California and extended into the Pacific up to 200 km. Southern California: The persistent blaze in eastern Fresno County generated isolated heavy, but mainly light to moderate smoke that extended southwestward to the coast. Idaho: Several fires in Clearwater and Idaho counties generated moderately dense smoke that moved generally to the south.
