DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0015Z SEPTEMBER 25, 2008

Southern California:

The Hidden fire in N Tulare county was generating light to moderately
dense smoke that was moving generally northward.

Northern California/Oregon:
Although clouds were impeding smoke detection, light smoke was observed
moving northeast across central Oregon from the Klamath Complex, the
Lonesome Complex and the Rattle fire.

Colorado:
Light to isolated moderately dense smoke was moving northeast from
several fires in western and north-central Colorado.

Southeast:
Light smoke from numerous ag fires was moving towards the southwest.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
