DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z MARCH 20, 2009
Remnant smoke from numerous fires seen in Kansas and Oklahoma yesterday has drifted southeastward across Arkansas and Mississippi in mid-level flow. Light smoke is also seen over the Florida panhandle that spreads out to the southwest along a frontal boundary across the northern Gulf of Mexico crossing part of southeast Louisiana. This smoke could possibly be from fires in Arkansas from several days ago. No other areas of significant dust or detached smoke were observed. Details on smoke plumes from ag fires across the Plains and Southeast can be found at the sites provided below. DS THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED.
