DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0145Z June 23, 2009
Ontario/Quebec: A large area of thin to moderately dense smoke extended from southeastern Ontario county through central Quebec and into New Foundland. Within the larger area of thin smoke an area of extremely dense smoke was associated with fire activity about 185 miles east of the southern portions of James Bay. Nebraska/Iowa: An area of thin smoke was located over the eastern portions of Nebraska, southeastern South Dakota, western Iowa and extreme northwest Missouri this evening. This area of smoke was likely associated with ongoing fire activity over New Mexico.
