DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Alaska/Northwest Territories: Some residual smoke, possibly mixed in with some SO2, is situated over the northern region of Alaska. Farther to the south and east, in the Northwest Territories, there is also some light smoke present in the southern region of the province. Because of extensive cloud cover, a lot of the smoke cannot be seen. Canada/Northern US: A small area of what appears to be SO2 is situated over northern Alberta and northern Manitoba. The SO2 also appears to extend south into the Dakotas. California: Some residual light smoke in the northern region of the state, mostly in Shasta County, is slowly drifting off to the east.
