DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1715Z July 29, 2009
Alaska/Canada/Northern US:. Numerous wildfires continue to burn over portions of Alaska and the Yukon. A large area of residual light to moderately dense to even locally dense near the point sources, is situated from Alaska/Yukon/Northwest Territories through large sections of Alberta and Saskatchewan, south into the Northern Plains of the US. British Columbia/Washington/Oregon: In the Pacific Northwest, a rather large area of moderately dense smoke was seen drifting southeast through the eastern portions of Washington into northeastern Oregon towards west central Idaho. This smoke is likely in association with the numerous fires burning over the southern portion of British Columbia. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
