DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z September 20, 2009
Quebec/Ontario/Minnesota: Thin smoke can be seen covering nearly all of Ontario, far SW Nunavut, E Quebec near James Bay and the N third of MN. This smoke is remnant smoke from BC and NW US fires over the last week, along with some smoke from agricultural fires in the Red River Valley areas. Arizona: Thin smoke from the Fracus fire and other fire in the Kaibab Nat'l Forest (on the north rim of the Grand Canyon) produced last night has drifted SE and can now be seen mostly over Gila county with some extending across far SW Coconino, S Navajo, SW Apache and moving into NW Graham county. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
