DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0300Z October 22, 2009
Arizona: A small piece of thin smoke broke off from the Bachelor Fire in central Arizona this morning and was seen drifting eastward towards the Arizona/New Mexico border this evening, just east of Show Low, AZ. California: Two areas of thin remnant smoke were seen over central California this evening. One small area was present over the southern end of the Central Valley while a larger area of remnant smoke had moved in for the north/northwest off the Pacific Ocean across the greater San Francisco Bay area. This smoke was moving mostly southeastward and likely originated from several central California fires and from fires burning in southwest Oregon yesterday. Pacific Northwest: Fairly dense haze was pushing into the Pacific Northwest from the Pacific Ocean this evening. -Sheffler More information on areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below.
