DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z October 29, 2009
Northern BAJA/Southwest California... An area of moderately dense blowing dust is seen across southwest California and blowing southward...extending over portions of northern Baja and Gulf of California. Deep South Texas/Western Gulf of Mexico... Gusty winds across deep south Texas appear to be kicking up dust that is light in density and carrying it from southeast to northwest. The far northwestern edge of the blowing dust is likely approaching the San Antonio area and Hill County. A distinct plume of smoke from the oil platforms in the Bay of Campeche was seen extending to the northwest nearly reaching to the southern Texas Gulf Coast. CW/MR More information on areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED.
