DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

No areas of significant smoke were detected on satellite imagery this evening. Sand/dust: W Kansas: Strong NNWly sfc winds are picking up loose soils and sand across W KS. Interestingly, the far NW corner of KS appears to be the furthest NW extent, though it does stretch SE across the state to Medicine Lodge, Pratt and Great Bend. The sand storm appears thin to moderate in density. A second swath of moderate density streaks across the far SW portion of the state from near Holly CO/ Tribune, KS toward Liberal, thin sand is likely between the two areas but is not easily detected in Goes-E imagery. Gallina THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
