DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z May 5, 2010
Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri: An area of remnant smoke moving southeast, stretches across Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri from fires in the area yesterday. Gulf of Mexico: A broad area of light to isolated moderate smoke from fires in Mexico covers much of the southern Gulf and Bay of Campeche which stretches northeastward along and ahead of the convergence zone into the northeast Gulf. The area in the eastern Gulf may also be mixed with blowing dust that originated from the Sahara. The smoke is from the numerous fires burning in the Yucatan and Guatemala. MS THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
