DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Alaska/Northern Canada: The large wildfires in the northern Yukon Territory and in eastern Alaska continue to produce dense smoke. The smoke was mainly confined to northeast Alaska and northern Yukon with thinner smoke extending into the Northwest Territories and central Canada. Eastern Canada/Maine: Area so thin smoke covers much of central and eastern Quebec as well as northern Ontario. Thin stripe of moderate dense smoke over central Quebec and thins out to light smoke over northern and central Maine. Gulf of Mexico: Light smoke in the western Gulf of Mexico into Louisiana from agricultural fires in Mexico. Dust that has been in the Gulf over the past few days is possibly mixing in as well.
