DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z June 13, 2010
Northern/Central Canada: The numerous fires over the southern Northwest Territories, and northern Saskatchewan produced the remnant smoke slowly drifting southeastward across Nunavut, Manitoba and into Ontario. Eastern Canada: Moderately dense remnant smoke from several large wildfire was moving east at about 20kts across Quebec into New Brunswick. Alaska/Northwest Canada: A light ribbon of remnant smoke stretches from Homer, through Gelena, and up to the western edge of the Brooks Range. Across the north slope and into the Beaufort Sea, the ribbon mixes in with an area of light remnant smoke from the numerous fires that have been burning across Alaska. In this area there may be areas of moderately dense smoke along the coastline. MS THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
