DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1530Z July 17, 2010
Central Canada/Northern US: Dense smoke from large fires primarily burning in northern Saskatchewan extended southward into Manitoba and Minnesota before turning east across Wisconsin, Michigan, northern Ohio, northern Pennsylvania, and then northeast through Maine. Additional moderate to very dense residual smoke was found over the Northwest Territories and Northern Manitoba, Hudson Bay as well as a thin area over central Wisconsin and Michigan. An area of unknown aerosols, haze and likely mixed with some very light remnant smoke extended south over northern Missouri and eastward over the Ohio Valley. Southeast: General area of haze and unknown aerosols seen off the Southeast coast and onshore over much of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.
