DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z August 2, 2010
Alaska: Moderately dense smoke was seen stretching from the Beaufort Sea, across northwestern Alaska, through Yukon and Northwest Territories and into northern British Columbia and Alberta. The densest area was along the southern boundary of Northwest Territories. This entire area is drifting southeast. Central Canada: The numerous fires in Saskatchewan continue to emit dense to moderately dense smoke moving due east to the eastern side of the Hudson Bay. Clouds are moving into the area making it difficult to see the new smoke being generated. British Columbia/Washington/N Oregon/Idaho/Montana: In morning imagery, dense smoke was seen slowly drifting ENE across Washington, northeastern Oregon, northern Idaho, and then into Montana where it became lighter.
