DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Southeast US Coast/Gulf of Mexico: Several areas of thin remnant smoke along with other aerosols were seen along and just ahead of a frontal boundary that was pushing deep into the central Gulf of Mexico and moving across central Florida this morning. The remnant smoke was seen southwest and northeast of central Florida with the smoke off the southeast coast being pulled northward by the strong weather system. This smoke is from the large amount of mostly agricultural fires that have been burning across the southern/southeast US over the past 2-3 days. Additional aerosols behind the frontal boundary across the northern Gulf of Mexico appear to be mostly ozone related. Sheffler THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES. IT WILL ALSO STILL INCLUDE DESCRIPTIONS OF BLOWING DUST.
