DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Numerous fires were analyzed today across the South Central and Southeastern US with many visible smoke plumes noted in visible imagery as well. For additional graphical details on these plumes, please refer to the Internet links listed below. Some very thin density blowing dust/sand was also visible moving to the north-northeast from the White Sands region of south central New Mexico and also from a couple of sources in northern Mexico just south of the southwestern New Mexico border. An aerosol which is believed to be mainly from the gas flares in the Bay of Campeche spread quite far to the north-northwest during the day reaching the west central Gulf of Mexico, just off the southern Texas coast. JS THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES. IT WILL ALSO STILL INCLUDE DESCRIPTIONS OF BLOWING DUST.
