DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z April 06, 2011

South Central USA/Northern Mexico:
Large wildfires continue to burn over northern Coahulia, Mexico this
morning just south of the Big Bend region of Texas. Remnant light smoke
likely from these fires and other numerous agricultural fires throughout
central and southern Mexico was seen moving north across northeast Mexico
and most of southern Texas.

East Coast USA:
An area of light remnant smoke was seen moving east off east coast
US. The smoke stretched from Cape Hatteras to Cape Cod. This remnant
smoke can be attributed to the wildfires burning over northern Coahulia,
Mexico and the numerous agricultural fires across the Central Plains.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT WILL CONTINUE TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE
WHICH HAVE BECOME DETACHED FROM AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE
SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. IT WILL ALSO
STILL INCLUDE DESCRIPTIONS OF BLOWING DUST.

Unless otherwise indicated:

Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.

Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.

Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
