Atlantic Ocean/Mid-Atlantic States/New England States: Remnant, light smoke from fires in the US, Canada and Mexico continues to get pushed eastward off of the East Coast by a frontal boundary and into the Atlantic Ocean. Hazy conditions are also prevalent in this region due to the hot and humid weather pattern. The smoke/haze mixture extends southward along the East Coast from Massachusetts; however, the heaviest concentrations are near New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts. Canada: The large wildfire in Alberta, approximately 65 km north of Fort McMurray, continues to emit moderately dense to dense smoke. The dense smoke moved north/north-east from the point source and entered Saskatchewan. Moderately dense and light smoke is also moving to the west and into central British Columbia. Most of northern Alberta is under a blanket of smoke from this fire. Alaska: Wildfires continue to burn in Alaska; however, cloud cover made smoke detection difficult this morning. Gulf of Mexico: Remnant smoke from wildfires across the southeastern United States is located in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Motion of this remnant smoke is to the west this morning.
