DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central/Eastern U.S./Gulf of Mexico: Fires over Arizona, northern Mexico, the Mid-Mississippi Valley and the Carolinas were combing to produce a moderately dense smoke plume that covered the Plains States across the southern two-thirds of the country and then extending through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US. Central/Eastern Canada: Fires over northern Alberta and Saskatchewan were producing a moderately dense smoke plume that extended as far east as northern Quebec while also extending southeast towards the northern Plains of the United States. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
