DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Eastern US: A large area of remnant smoke covers the east coast of the US extending from central Florida north to Connecticut. Heavier smoke is concentrated around the smoke producing fires in southern Georgia and East-central North Carolina. The smoke is moving east over the Atlantic. Northern Canada: Light to moderately dense smoke is located over the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory. This smoke is from fires in southern Northwest Territories and Alberta. The smoke is moving to the northwest. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
