DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z July 18, 2011
Central and Eastern Canada: Numerous wildfires continue to burn throughout eastern Manitoba and western/northern Ontario. Moderate to locally very dense smoke was seen in this morning's imagery stretching from central and eastern Manitoba all the way to New Brunswick where the smoke is moving towards the south and east along the cold frontal boundary. Western Nevada/Southeastern Oregon: A small, elongated area of light smoke can be seen moving towards the north and east through northern Nevada and southeast Oregon. This is most likely remnant smoke from the fire currently burning in the southern Sierras in central California. Belge THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
