DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Northwest US: Wildfires in the northwest US including two larger burns in the Oregon Cascades, one in central Idaho, and two smaller but significant burns barely into central Idaho near the Oregon border are producing patches of thin to locally dense remnant smoke that is moving to the north. Smoke remains confined to western Oregon and central Idaho this evening. Lower Mississippi Valley: Numerous agricultural burns mainly throughout southern Arkansas and northern Louisiana are producing an area of very light density remnant smoke that covers those areas plus west central Mississippi and far eastern Texas. Ramirez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
