THROUGH 0330Z September 23, 2011
Mississippi River Valley: Patches of light density remnant smoke are observed in the lower Mississippi River Valley mainly throughout the eastern parts of Arkansas and Louisiana and the western part of Mississippi. Some of this remnant smoke/aerosol was observed over eastern Texas and southeast Oklahoma this morning. Idaho/Montana/Wyoming: Fires continue to burn in these states and emit dense smoke close their sources and emit thin density smoke over much of Idaho, northwest Wyoming, and eastern Montana. North Central US/southern Canada: Remnant smoke is present in southeast Saskatchewan, south central Manitoba, and northern North Dakota from wildfires in the said regions. Smoke is traveling north and is mainly thin in density with the exception of moderate density smoke seen in the Canadian provinces. Canada: Two large wildfires are burning in northern Alberta and southeast Northwest Territories and both are emitting light to moderate density smoke in the northeast direction. Smoke appears to disperse relatively quickly, within a few hundred kilometers from the sources. Ramirez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
