Ontario/Northern and Central Great Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley: An area of light remnant smoke was seen in a broad arc extending from southwest Hudson Bay through western Manitoba across western Minnesota, the eastern Dakotas and Nebraska into central Kansas before curling back to the southeast through central Oklahoma and northeast Texas and over northern Louisiana. This expansive area of smoke is from previous days fires, which are still ongoing, over Idaho/Montana and Wyoming. The smoke is being deflected around a massive upper level low pressure system spinning over southern Lake Michigan. Wyoming into the Central Plains: An area of light to moderately dense remnant smoke from yesterday evening was moving to the southeast and stretched from eastern Wyoming into the far northwest tip of Kansas. Arizona: An area of light to moderately dense smoke was moving to the west across central Arizona. This smoke was from the Tanner fire in Gila county. There was also an area of blowing dust observed that originated from gusty thunderstorm winds between Phoenix and Tuscon. The blowing dust spread to the north across the Phoenix metropolitan area. Oregon: An area of blowing dust was seen moving to the east from it's source near Summer Lake in south central Oregon this evening.
